<Barney Kato
Barney Kato has been in the realm of endless dance for over 23 years exploring the magic created by music and people coming together in different environments and he brings this all back home to Eora / Sydney to captivate audiences with his expansive intuitive Dj sets and regular events (Alien and Breakbeat Chaos).
Recently Barney Kato had the honour of spinning at the Sydney Boiler Room in the legendary Hordern Pavillion
Drawn to the futuristic edges of dance music and a true fan of the culture Barney Kato is not just a collector of records but also of experiences enjoying dancefloors all over the globe. Barney sees the DJ booth as a centre for energy manipulation distilling a mixture of classic sonic fragments and cutting edge elements to enable the mass motion of dancefloors of all shapes and sizes. Rewiring dancefloors to new experiences rather than relying on well worn tropes and anthems. Barney is also currently a resident of Sydney clubbing institution Club 77, playing regularly and curating nights. Barney also teaches dj lessons, training and encouraging and booking upcoming talent.
Barney has also had a rich involvement in the electronic music scene of Newcastle and Sydney since the year 2000 running many different parties, working in record stores, running a record label and hosting Fbi Radio Thursday Sunset for 15 years (2007-2022). He's also Dj'd at many seminal parties and festivals across Australia including Big Day Out, Nevereverland (ft Daft Punk), Mad Racket, Club Mince, Bang Gang, Splendour In The Grass, Field Day, Hopkins Creek, Subsonic, Skydance, Pavlova Bar, Spice, Lucid, Heavenly, Charades and many more.
